Morgan B. Giles, PhD., is an Associate Principal Scientist at Merck & Co., Inc in Rahway, NJ. Morgan joined Merck in 2018 in the Biopharmaceutics & Specialty Dosage Forms group focusing on analytical characterization of polymeric implants and inhaled dosage forms. In 2019 she transitioned to Sterile & Specialty Products focusing on leading formulation development of polymer based long acting injectables (LAI) and implantables. Seeking to diversify in parenteral drug delivery she also took on projects for formulation development of large molecule sterile biologics. Most recently, Morgan transitioned to Oral Formulation Sciences at Merck where she is focusing on oral solid dosage form development for the delivery of peptides and small molecules. Outside of her lab-based role Morgan leads the Merck Pharmaceutical Sciences & Clinical Supply Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team and is an active member of the recruiting team.
Prior to joining Merck, she received a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University and PhD. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Michigan where her research focused on long-acting formulation development using polymer matrices for intracellular delivery of peptides and proteins. She has been an active member of AAPS since 2012.
