Burcu Uner, PhD is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, with a deep expertise in pharmaceutical technology and drug delivery systems. She earned her PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology and Biotechnology from Istanbul University and her BA in Pharmacy from Marmara University, Istanbul. Burcu's work focuses on bridging biology and pharmaceutical sciences, with significant contributions to the development of innovative drug delivery systems, particularly in areas like nanomedicine, ocular drug delivery, and cancer treatments.
Burcu's research extends to exploring novel therapies for mitochondrial-related diseases, such as MELAS, Leigh syndrome, and metabolic disorders, including obesity and aging. Her interdisciplinary research includes formulating drug delivery systems using positively charged nanoparticles, mitochondria-targeted treatments, and RNA-based therapies. She is currently working on several funded projects, including NIH and TUBITAK grants.
In addition to her research, Burcu is an Assistant Professor at Medipol University, Istanbul, and is actively involved in teaching and mentoring students in pharmaceutical sciences. She has received numerous honors, including the 2023 Outstanding Manuscript Award from EUFEPS, and has served as a guest editor and reviewer for several prestigious journals.
Her work has been published in high-impact journals, and she has presented at international conferences such as AAPS, EUFEPS, and FIP. Burcu's passion for advancing patient-centric therapies continues to drive her research, with a focus on creating innovative and impactful solutions in drug delivery science.
