Dr. Faustino is a Lab Chief in the Division of Product Quality Research in the Office of Pharmaceutical Quality at FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. He has previously served as the Division’s Deputy Director and the Teamleader for the chemistry and stability program and the pharmaceutical chemistry program. He received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from American University in Wash, DC and was a Research Associate at Georgetown University’s Department of Pharmacology. He has published 90 peer reviewed manuscripts and provided over 250 and podium and poster presentations.
He has worked at CDER’s Laboratory of Clinical Pharmacology (LCP) and the Division of Research and Testing (DRT) before joining the Division of Product Quality Research (DPQR). He is the past chair of the Office of Pharmaceutical Science’s Center of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Analysis and Characterization.
His regulatory research efforts have focused on drug product quality for CMC issues and pre/clinical studies to support the Center’s assessment, policy, compliance and surveillance business activities. Current research efforts include the efficient development and validation of analytical methods for emerging chromatographic and spectroscopic procedures based on advanced robotics platforms to support the development of near-line and on-line process monitoring for the manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals.
