Tony Leone is Executive Director-Analytical Development and Attribute Sciences at Bristol Myers Squibb. He earned his BA in Chemistry from Franklin & Marshall College, and PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He began his industrial career at Merck and continuously sought out functional and matrix leader roles to learn and maximize impact for patients. Some of these roles include head of analytical for non-viral gene delivery capabilities, integrated CMC and Early Development team leader for multiple small and large molecule discovery and clinical development teams, and director and lead accountable for first in human formulation. Tony joined BMS in 2017 as the head of the Biophysical and Chemical Characterization COE. He drove greater emphasis on attribute sciences and translated these into successful control strategies. In 2020 he was promoted to Senior Director Biologics Process and Analytical Integration and in 2021 he was promoted to Executive Director-attribute sciences-biologics and gene therapy. Tony is driven by working on important and challenging problems. He is passionate about talent development and helping people to achieve their career goals. An experienced matrix team leader, he seeks to build teams and capabilities that accelerate the advancement of novel therapeutics to patients.
