Dr. Somnath Singh, PhD, M. Pharm, B. Pharm, is a Professor of Pharmaceutics at School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Creighton University, USA. where he has been teaching pharmaceutics (physicochemical principles of Drugs) and Pharmacogenomics in Disease Management since more than a decade. His teaching philosophy is based on problem solving and active learning which involves various educational technologies for enhancing students’ learning outcomes. He has been awarded five times “Educator of the Year” award by his students.
His research experiences incorporate analytical method development, controlled deliveries of therapeutic protein and peptide, their conformational stability and biological activity, percutaneous absorption of and dermatotoxicity from chemicals, permeation enhanced transdermal drug deliveries. His recent research interests include developing analytical method for quantification of aqueous solution of hydrogen sulfide, sustained release delivery system for hydrogen sulfide donors, nanogel formulation of curcumin for the prevention and treatment of melanoma. He is a member of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), Controlled Release society (CRS), American Association of College of Pharmacy (AACP), National Geographic Society, and National Parks Conservation Association (USA). He has been invited to be a member of Alpha Alpha Chapter of Rho Chi and Phi Lambda Sigma, Alpha Mu Chapter which are the only honor societies at his school. He is in editorial board of International Journal of Pharmaceutica Analytica Acta and an external PhD theses reviewer for Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Uttar Pradesh, and Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra-835215, Ranchi, Jharkhand, INDIA, He has written two text books, three book chapters, published 29 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, and presented 69 oral/poster original research presentations in various national/international annual conferences.
