Dr. Gregory Sluggett, Ph.D. is currently a Research Fellow in Analytical R&D at Pfizer, Inc. Greg received his doctorate in Organic Chemistry from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His thesis work with Professor William Leigh involved organic photochemistry and organosilicon reactive intermediates. Dr. Sluggett did a post-doctoral fellowship at Columbia University in New York City with Professor Nicholas Turro. While at Columbia, he studied the chemistry of reactive free radicals & ions by time-resolved spectroscopic techniques. Greg began his pharmaceutical career at Merck/Merial in animal health product development and has been at Pfizer since 2000. Over his 22 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Greg has been involved in many different aspects of drug development from discovery support through product launch. His interests include pharmaceutical stability, forced degradation and impurities. Greg has served as Secretary, Chair-elect, and Chair of the AAPS Pharmaceutical Impurities Focus Group and is currently the leader of the Pharmaceutical Impurities Community.
