AI/ML tools undoubtedly re-defined scientific conduct. Current machine learning (ML) hype which took over the whole world of AI is both the source of unprecedented development of these tools and their spectacular failures. Intuitively, one can judge that successes of AI/ML prevail and with drug discovery found at its current stagnation, they are promising a new era of innovation. However, this promise hasn’t been fulfilled yet. We will analyze possible causes of why there is no golden era of new drug structures being found around every corner. We will start from the very basic question: what exactly is AI and ML. Then we will try to assess where do we overestimate AI/ML power? Finally, we will look into the future using traditional crystal ball rather than predictions of the overgrown super-large-(language?)-models and identify suitable solutions to the current state of the matters.
