Description: Climate change is compelling the pharmaceutical industry to reduce its environmental footprint. This also affects formulation design, and the unit processes required for manufacturing. Excipients frequently comprise more than 50% of the dosage form, yet most excipients and the unit processes used were developed in a prior era. We will highlight trends in excipient and unit process design that can significantly reduce carbon footprint and enhance the sustainability and profitability of new products.
