This presentation aims to explore the role of gastrointestinal regions in optimizing the effectiveness of oral peptide delivery. Oral administration of peptides presents significant challenges, including enzymatic degradation and poor absorption across the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). Understanding and harnessing absorption regions in the GIT can enhance the bioavailability of orally delivered peptides. By comparing the pre-clinical data from different targeted delivery regions, attendees will gain insights in designing and optimizing oral peptide delivery systems.
Learning Objectives:
Review the challenges associated with effective oral peptides delivery
Review physiological aspects of the gastrointestinal tract, highlighting the advantages and limitations for oral absorption of peptides
Explore strategies for targeted delivery of peptide, and analyze pre-clinical data following targeted oral administration of peptide
Discuss the complexities in developing site-specific oral peptide delivery systems.
