Dr. Sarmistha Deb, PhD is an accomplished and talented DMPK and Biotransformation scientist having more than 15 years of experiences in the domain of drug discovery of NCEs from ADME/DMPK prospective. She has lead Prodrugs and discovery projects of NCEs in different therapeutic areas like Oncology, Immunology, Immuno-oncology, Neuroscience at different stages of discovery where her vast knowledge in overall ADME has helped to take right strategies based on the data and her trouble-shooting skills to solve ADME related issues, proper in vitro-in vivo study designing has helped to progress the projects and to select the right candidate for IND.
Additionally, her expertise in Biotransformation/MetID work also has helped the program to identify the lead candidate either by enhancing metabolic stability or mitigating the risk of formation of reactive metabolites. Overall, she has in depth understanding and knowledge in overall ADME including PK, MetID and drug metabolism.
Currently she is scientific advisor of Palamur Bioscience. Additionally, she is co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of DiponED Bio intelligence since 2017 where she is leading discovery research of NCEs . She is one of the co-founders and leaders of Diponed Research International which is a drug discovery CRO focused on ADME. Before that Sarmistha was Principal Research Investigator in Bristol-Myer-Squibb Biocon Research Centre from 2008 to 2016 where she supported and lead discovery projects of NCEs from DMPK prospective from early discovery to lead optimization and candidate selection for IND. She also executed IND enabling studies.
She has completed her M.Sc. in Chemistry from IIT Kharagpur and then she has completed her PhD in Bio-organic Chemistry from University of Missouri Columbia, USA in 2008.
She has ~15 publications, 1 book chapter, 10 awards and she presented over 10 presentations at different scientific conferences. She is an active member of ISSX.
