Dr. Bahaa Mustafa earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2022. He began his role as an assistant professor in the pharmaceutical sciences department at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in May 2022. Since April 2023, Dr. Mustafa has been an associate member of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute with the cancer therapeutics program.
His primary research area involves identifying biotherapeutics, mainly peptides, and nanobodies, using the phage display technique. Additionally, he is working on developing peptide ligands for targeted drug delivery via liposomes, particularly for lung cancer. Dr. Mustafa is also interested in combining peptide-based immune checkpoint inhibitors with oncolytic virotherapy for colorectal and pancreatic cancer.
