Samantha Skinner is a PhD candidate at the University of Southern California Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where she specializes in pharmacological research aimed at developing novel therapies for alcohol-associated conditions. Her research is centered on the use of natural products, with a particular focus on Dihydromyricetin (DHM), a compound known for its potential therapeutic effects in treating alcohol use disorder and alcohol-associated fatty liver disease. Samantha is utilizing innovative co-crystallization methods to enhance the bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of DHM, optimizing its potential as a treatment option, and her research incorporates both in vivo models and physical chemistry techniques to assess the pharmacokinetics, bioactivity, and neuroprotective potential of DHM.
