Dr. Jayachandra Babu Ramapuram is currently a Professor and Graduate Program Officer at the Department of Drug Discovery and Development, Harrison School of Pharmacy, Auburn University. He has over 25 years of academic and industry experience in formulation and drug delivery research. He has gained substantial experience in pharmaceutical and biomedical analysis of dosage forms and drug delivery systems. As a principal investigator, he assisted pharmaceutical companies in formulating water-insoluble drug molecules belonging to different therapeutic categories. For this, he utilized innovative drug delivery platforms such as nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, cyclodextrin complexes, microneedle patches, melt-extrusion systems, and amorphous solids for delivery across oral, ocular, transmucosal, and transdermal routes. His lab has been supported by federal, private, and local funding for over 3 million dollars and published over 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and conference abstracts. Further, he trained four post-docs, fourteen Ph.D. and four M.S. students, and trained numerous professional and undergraduate students in the last twenty years. He has been a member of the AAPS since 2002 and served as the chair of the AAPS-LBDDS community, track chair of the AAPS abstract screening committee, track chair of the AAPS rapid fires committee, and member of the AAPS awards committee.
