Diana Shu-Lian Chow, PhD and FNAI, is Paula & John J Lovoi Endowed Professor in Drug Discovery and Development, Professor of Pharmaceutics, and Director of Institute for Drug Education and Research (IDER) in University of Houston College of Pharmacy, where she has been active, well-funded and accomplished in research, education and administrative services for 41 years since she earned PhD from University of British Columbia, Canada, in 1981. Chow’s research has led to FDA approved Busulfan®, the gold standard protocol for preparative regimen of blood, bone marrow or stem cell transplant, and multiple patents in various developmental stages for clinical applications. Chow is inducted Fellow of National Academy of Inventors since 2016, and received recognition of “Excellence in Achievement” by American College of Clinical Pharmacology in September 2022.
Chow was awarded UH Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award in 2021, and Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award by Conference of Southern Graduate Schools of 200 Institutions in 2022, for training 41 PhDs, including two PharmD/PhDs, seven Masters, and 26 postdoctoral fellows during 1984-2022, all with productive and successful careers in academia, pharmaceutical industry, FDA, or other settings. Chow is active in professional/society services including as grant reviewers for NIH, DoD and Hong Kong RGC.
