Umesh Kestur is currently a Scientific Director in the Drug Product Development group at Bristol Myers Squibb company in New Jersey. In his current role, Umesh leads the in-silico biopharmaceutics group and is also responsible for development and integration of biopharmaceutical knowledge to drive drug product design. He also serves in CMC teams as a project lead for drug product development teams. He started his career at BMS as a formulator and has experience in formulation and process development of immediate and modified release dosage forms.
Prior to joining BMS, Umesh got his PhD from the Department of Industrial & Physical Pharmacy in the College of Pharmacy at Purdue University, Indiana working in Dr. Lynne Taylor’s lab. His PhD research focused on Investigation and detection of crystallization from amorphous pharmaceutical systems. He got his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kerala in India. He is currently a member of the USP expert committee on complex excipients. He also has been a member of AAPS for nearly two decades and has several presentations at international conferences, is an inventor on patent applications, has 24 publications in peer-reviewed journals and authored a book chapter.
