Dr Matthew Harwood (PhD), Principal Scientists, Certara UK Ltd (Sheffield, UK).
Matt is a principal scientist who joined Certara in 2007 and is primarily involved in the development of human & preclinical PBPK models, specialising in drug transport and metabolism. Matt has led numerous major projects including the recent development of the Simcyp simulators endogenous biomarker module. He has over 20 peer reviewed publications and has been a meeting & session organiser, moderator, and invited speaker at various internationally recognised meetings. Matthew obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physiology and Human Nutrition from The University of Sheffield (2000) and PhD (gut transporter proteomics & IVIVE-PBPK) from The University of Manchester (2015). His first PK research involvement was at Salford Royal Hospital, Manchester, sponsored by Pfizer, using ex vivo intestinal tissue to understand region-specific intestinal drug permeability/transporters.
