Amit Desai, Ph.D.

Dr. Amit Desai is a Global clinical pharmacology lead at Astellas pharma, Northbrook, IL, which he joined in 2009. He obtained his Ph.D. from University of the Pacific, Stockton, CA in pharmaceutical and chemical sciences, with focus on clinical pharmacology, population pharmacokinetic model development and model validation/quantification. At Astellas, Dr. Desai has worked on numerous projects in various therapeutic areas, both as a modeling and simulation scientist and as global clinical pharmacology lead. At Astellas, he has spearheaded the development of innovative strategies and PK/PD models that have been crucial in shaping drug dosing strategies, optimizing therapeutic regimens, and enhancing overall drug safety and efficacy. His work has been instrumental in designing and executing complex clinical trials, from early-phase studies through to pivotal trials, ensuring robust data collection and analysis to support successful regulatory submissions. Dr Desai is the chair of Scientific programming committee for Pharm Sci 360, 2024 held in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has been involved in volunteering for various roles with AAPS for the past decade.
