Gerrit Vreeman is a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Changquan Calvin Sun's laboratory at the University of Minnesota Department of Pharmaceutics. During his Ph.D. studies, he received the Grant Fellowship in Physical Pharmacy and the Paul Myrdal Memorial Fellowship from the AFPE. His expertise is in developing and applying innovative time and materials-sparing techniques to characterize powder compression properties.
His recent research focuses on using in-die characterization techniques to evaluate powder compressibility. This work has application in the pharmaceutical industry, providing valuable insights for informing the optimal tablet formulation design and manufacturing conditions. A primary objective of this research is to leverage the new comprehensive powder characterization techniques to aid in selecting the optimal amount and type of excipient in a formulation to achieve consistent and high-quality tablet products.
