By now, AI-enabled tools should be nothing new to the research community. Still, the landscape is changing rapidly. They have moved out of the lab and into everyday use by scientists and non-scientists alike. How do we build strong communication within highly technical areas that are going to utilize AI? As artificial intelligence displaces more and more mental effort, where do the humans involved continue to add value?
In this 60-minute presentation by David P. Otey, MA, MBA, a recognized expert in communication skills for scientists and other technical professionals, participants will encounter both the common objections to using AI in communication, and best practices that will help overcome those objections. They will come away with a new understanding of the important distinctions between human and machine intelligence.
Learning objectives:
1. Participants will be able to name common objections to using AI in communicating their science.
2. Participants will be able to describe at least one advantage to AI for science communication.
3. Participants will be able to answer the question, “What is happening with AI and my job?”
